For those who are looking for a more discreet, stylish and affordable solution for real surround sound, the new DX-2 5.1 speaker system of Wharfedale is ideal. The system consists of four satellite speakers for front and back, a compact center speaker and an active subwoofer.
The DX-2 satellite speaker, so four of which are in the package, can be attached to the wall or placed on a stand. The dimensions are 19 x 12 x 12 centimeters. Sound reproduction is borne by a Silk Dome Tweeter of 19 millimeters and a middle / low driver with a polypropylene cone with a diameter of 75 millimeters. Because the cupboard is closed, placement is no problem close to a wall.
The center speaker has the same tweeter that is escorted by two mid-layer drivers of the same type as in the satellite speakers. The cabinet is 12 x 31 x 12 centimeters large.
The matching active subwoofer called WH-D8 has a driver with a diameter of 20 centimeters driven by an amplifier of 70 watts. The WH-D8 has a "auto-sense" function: it turns on when a music signal enters and it goes out if no music signal comes in a time.
The DX-2 contains all important ingredients that the DX-1 HCP and DX-1SE packets have made so successful, redesigned with an improved cupboard design and a smart, contemporary new look. The drive units are accurately adjusted and the active subwoofer is upgraded with a more powerful and advanced integral amplifier, resulting in a larger scale, punch and refinement.
