The new Evo4 from Wharfedale has grown from the extensive research and the development that the Elysian flag handling speakers has produced and lends a large part of the technology that comes to watch at Elysian.
The primary focus is on the AMT development that results in a radically different way of the efficient and accurate reproduction of high-frequency detail. Similar cabinet technology such as Elysian offers a stable and solid foundation for driver units with radiation edges to help integrate the driver output with space acoustics. Moreover, the unique SLPP base reflex system, as developed for Elysian, is now included in EVO4.

The EVO4 series is located between the Wharfedales Award-winning Diamond 11 series and our future flagship, the Elysian speakers. This series has been developed next to the Elysian project and comes from the same extensive research and development. With characteristics that are rarely seen on products at this price, such as the significant, well-built cupboards, the beautifully curved sides and the refined driver arrangement.
EVO4's AMT high-frequency unit produces sound in a completely different way than conventional dome testers. The ribbon technology uses a large, pleated, lightweight diaphragm, driven by a series of magnets. This is an extremely efficient and accurate method to create high-frequency sound, so that the EVO4 series has an open and smooth sounding top, without being too bright and hard.
This AMT Ribbon Tweeter is linked to a fast, responsive and detailed umbrella middle toner. These soft fabric dome is equipped with an extensive damping, venting and a specially designed back room, so that the driver can sound incredibly detailed, with a wide spread so that you can hear the music as meant, wherever you are. This midrange driver can be found on all speakers within the EVO4 range, with the exception of the EVO-4.1.
Low frequencies are treated by Wharfedales low-deformation motor system, coupled to woven kevlar cones to deliver powerful bass that you can hear as well as feel. This strong, lightweight Kevlar makes the driver both quickly and powerful, which ensures accurate and deadly bass that can be impressively low and loud when needed.
The bass extension of the EVO4 is then expanded and improved by the most advanced version of the Wharfedales Signature Slot-Loaded Bassport so far. The SLPP or Slot Loaded Profiled Port is designed to extend the bass performance of the speakers using a carefully designed port in the speaker's basis, making the evo4 speakers a lot of forgiving people with their placement, where most speakers would struggle With the bass outlet, the EVO4s will still shine.
Two Soft-Dome Midranges: The Wharfedale EVO 4.S has a 3-way driver design and contains two 2" soft-dome midranges that go together with the AMT high-frequency transducers and the Kevlar cone woofer. The 2" soft-dome midrange drivers provide one Accurate and detailed midrange display with a wide spread and an open sound internship.
Double AMT (Air Motion Transformer) Inverter: The Wharfedale EVO 4.S Surround speaker uses two specially designed 1,1875" x 2,375" AMT (Air Motion Transformer) transducers for his own, silky high frequency reproduction. The design of the AMT makes it possible to move a higher volume of air during performance than with a conventional soft dome tid.
This higher pressure, which is stimulated by the principles of the AMT design, offers improved HF display of point sources with lower deformation properties than conventional tweeters. This is reflected in the amazing and pure brightness of the musical performance of all EVO 4.S surround speakers.
Wharfedale EVO 4.S is specially designed from the base to guarantee sonic character and a great aesthetics. The cabinet is hung acoustically (sealed) and is made up of high-quality materials and composites with internal cushioning and reinforcement.
Curved cabinet design spreads the sound of the drivers accurately in your listening space and prevents standing waves in the cupboard that can color and blur the sound. The cupboard is available in a black, white and walnut wooden finish. It comes with an acoustic transparent cloth grille that is magnetically attached to the front of the speaker cabinet.
The Wharfedale Evo 4.S can be used as a surround or surround back speaker in a home cinema application to fully immerse you in surround sound and film effects.
Placement options: The EVO 4.S must be placed slightly higher than the ear level when you are listening position in your head. The EVO 4.S is placed as a surround speaker on the side walls at an angle of 90° to 110° with respect to your head listening space. Place the EVO 4.S as surround back speakers on the rear wall behind the head lugging at an angle of 135° to 150°.
Moreover, the EVO 4.S can easily be mounted on a tripod.
