Design
The series combines the renowned speaking history of the brand with first-class technology and state-of-the-art design. The newly designed Elysian series is characterized by a luxurious design and powerful performance.
The assembly of the accurately designed housing takes a few days of manual work and the whole is refined with piano branch to achieve the optimum result, both visually and acoustic. The drivers are coordinated. The tweeter is an Air Motion Transformer for precise high-frequency reproduction and together with the woofer made in Europe for a breathtaking transparency "so that the favorite song sounds like it is first heard: sound art in perfection". Peter Comeau, Acoustics Design Director of Wharfedale, says: "We develop products with the conviction that the listening experience comprises all the senses. That is why our customers only deserve the best. That is the attitude on which we build all our products."
The Elysian product line is the result of years of research and development at Wharfedale. This sets the own engineers a new benchmark for high-quality luxury speakers. Peter Comeau adds: "Elysian speakers embrace everything where Wharfedale is looking for: an uncompromising, beautifully designed speaker that combines handicraft with the latest audio technology. With every product we launch, we want to redefine modern sound again."
Detailed description
Wharfedale Elysian is a new flagship of the series of speakers who push the boundaries of the ability and performance of a loudspeaker at this price point. Elysian is a real example of luxury audio and offers pampering in the field of design, materials, aesthetics and performance. A thorough and uncompromising approach has encouraged the Wharfedale engineers to create a benchmark in affordable, audiophile luxury speakers. The advanced design and leading technology are combined to provide musical reproduction that will proudly challenge the best speakers in the world.
One for the connoisseur and one for the history books, Elysian let yourself be asked how this is possible in this price range.
Elysian is really an audio technical artwork.
From the real piano-laacquer finished cupboard, made with details of real craftsmanship, to the AMT (Air Motion Transformer) high-frequency transducers and the Basdrivers produced in Europe, Elysian represents a new standard in the world of home audio experience. The resulting sound, originating from the finely balanced driver selection and the expert Crossover design, fits the unspoilt design with a degree of natural transparency that will leave you breathlessly.
The AMT (Air Motion Transformer) is a radically different way of air. A large, pleated, lightweight membrane is driven over the surface by rows of strategically placed metal strips immersed in a strong magnetic field. Under the influence of the musical drive shrinking and turn off the folds in the diaphragm, pressing the air between them and the desired waveform is created. This is not only an efficient way to move air, but it is also very accurate because the diaphragm is kept monitoring by the motor system at all times. In addition, the AMT is a speed, instead of pressure, transducer, which is capable of producing sparkling fast transients and dynamics. The result is a device with a large bandwidth that achieves low distortion and delivers a beautiful musical detail.
Determined to match the sensitivity and accuracy of the AMT, we have established ourselves on a unique woven fiber optic matrix for the cone, which gives a beautiful combination of low mass and strength, and then have it a coating of high plasticity to the acoustic to check behavior. With such a low mass, only a layer of damping, foamed rubbery material would be suitable for surround, re-coated for durability. A central phase plug is specially formed to linearize the output about a large bandwidth, even good off-axis, so that a natural response to the music is being heard anywhere you want to be. What you hear is an amazing reality for voices and instruments. Singers seem to be present with you in space - close your eyes and listen to the tangable presence of singers in the acoustic space that Elysian presents.
The bass units are loaded by the most advanced version of the unique Wharfedale Slot Port so far. The rear output of the bass units is not wasted by the SLPPP (Slot Loaded Profiled Port). Instead, the low-frequency energy is vented to a slot at the foot of the speaker, specially profiled to equalize the high internal pressure to the low pressure in the room. The total system sensitivity is incredibly high, typically more than 92dB output for only 1 watt input, allowing each amplifier to reveal the full dynamic range of the music that is supplied without any voltage or limitation. In combination with the bassunits and the SLPP base reflex system, this forms the massive basis on which the rest of the musical performance is, so that you can feel and hear the full impact of retirement low-frequency information.
The combination of the outputs of the drivers is an advanced computer modeled crossover that has been developed during hundreds of listening tests, finely adjusted to ensure that the mix between the drive units is seamless. Of particular importance, phase consistency is about the exit of the drive unit, which means that a wide range of sitting positions is possible and the power response in your entire listening space is very linear. And of course we only used the most high-quality acoustic transparent components throughout the crossover construction, so that you can hear all musical details without having to worry about it. You will hear the full body of instruments such as cello and bass guitar, without having to worry about the full dynamics of the musical recital. Whether you are listening to a Solopiano, a full orchestra or a jazz trio or a multi-instrument rock appearance, Elysian is more than able to bring the sensation and excitement of the performance in your listening room.
