Heritage or legacy. And what is this or? An explanation. In the mid sixties, 1967 to be precise, the English speaker manufacturer Wharfedale came up with the first version of the Denton on the market and it was immediately a success and after which various types of Denton - adapted to the state of technical developments - followed . They were the 'roaring' years of HIFI that with the arrival of the Denton85 in 2017 as 're-make' on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of Wharfedale has received an absolute high point. Built as a bass reflex in a two-way configuration, the Denton85 may look forward to praising criticisms of the professionals around the world and now a great crowd of music lovers!

Under the traditional exterior, however, the Denton 85th Anniversary is completely up-to-date and uses a mix of traditional and advanced technology. The Basunit is equipped with Wharfedale's innovative woven Kevlar-Conus that is mounted on a stiff poured chassis, this combination delivers a rich, detailed bass / midton output with excellent dynamic performance. High frequencies are handled by a woven, soft dome-shaped treble unit of textile with a ferrite magnet with high flux, designed for a flexible, detailed HF extension.

These drive units are combined by a highly investigative crossover that is almost inaudible to the listener, resulting in a coherent, seamless musical output that is both exciting and natural in the display of each source material.

History

Most famous speakers

Wharfedale proudly presents this 85th Anniversary Edition from one of the best known and most popular speakers of the brand: De Denton.

Gilbert Briggs, who founded Wharfedale in 1932, made the company one of the most famous loudspeaker brands in the world by focusing on quality and value for money.

The Wharfedale Denton was an example of these two Edicts, whereby fine craftsmanship, natural sound quality and affordability were balanced in a compact loudspeaker that was purchased from millions around the world.

The original Denton with continued other models based on its very popular formula, the Denton 3 was the last of the line ...

…until now!

Characteristics

Classic bookshelf tradition

Denton 85th Anniversary is a two-way speaker in the classic bookshelf tradition, beautifully veneered in mahogany by Wharfedale furniture makers with a front plate used and a traditional tungsten-fabric grid.

High frequencies are processed by a woven textile soft-dome treble unit with a high flux ferrite magnet, designed for a smooth, detailed HF extension.

Seamless musical output

These drive units are combined by a highly investigative crossover that is almost inaudible to the listener, resulting in a coherent, seamless musical output that is both exciting and natural in the display of each source material.

The original Denton was known for its warm, rich and naturally sounding character and the 85th Anniversary Edition retains that character, but it stirs it with an open, detailed version that will tempt you to explore your entire music collection.

Truly a modern classic!
